And how their founder was blessed with "dealership" acumen.
A gang led by ugly men.
How one tribe terrorised men
The Yamune Gang was founded by Rilliam Wuto, a very charismatic and ambitious young man who was driven by the power of greed.
Just like the other gangs that existed before, this was no different.
It's ascent to power was filled with bloodshed. Innocent people were killed, properties destroyed and others became homeless.
Wuto was so ruthless that whenever he had a case to answer, witnesses would disappear. Others would be bought.
Step by step he started to build his "empire" as he vowed to become the Bumpy Johnson of Yamune.
He recruited a very powerful PA by the name of Farao Kipet, who was doing the dirty work, clearing the path for Wuto.
They then recruited Ceskar Suti, a man who had deep hatred for education. This guy was the one in charge of keeping the already occupied territory in check.
The likes of Chepchumba Muskomen and Haron Cherioo were also added to the gang from the neighbouring communities.
This was happening after Wuto has had a fallout with his former boss Ushuru Kihatta.
Wuto's charisma earned him some opposing gangs and this propelled him even further.
He recruited Imani Kichungwa, Lindi Nyoro , Musalia Bure and Moses Kabisa from the smaller gangs . This made the "Yamune Gang" a force to reckon with.
Later he recruited a ruthless member , Biggy G who later became his deputy.
This man was a lover of fashion trends that was seen in 1500 by the explorers. Cases against this mafia were dropped and the government was forced to compensate him for the previous experiences.
This is a guy who used to run a certain county from his home when the brother who was the governor at the time went abroad for treatment.
These new recruits were from humble backgrounds with promising futures.
He was preparing for new elections to succeed the incumbent leader of the time.
Wuto's competitors were really formidable with astonishing backgrounds.
This made Wuto to go back to the drawing board.
It was here where he decided to shed of his gangster character into a "preyerful" and poor son of the soil.
This earned him sympathy since his main competitor was labeled as a "traditionalist" .
By narrating his rise to power, he made sure that he attracted the youths by telling them that anything was possible
He also recruited the chief returning officer to his side. This made it impossible for him to be defeated.
When the election results were announced, he emerged as the victor, though highly contested.
He had promised his followers paradise.
But what they didn't know was that he was a liar.
They were being taken to hell just like his predecessor had foretold.
The first thing he did was to appoint his "Yamune" members to key positions especially in the energy and finance departments.
The next thing was to ensure that the judicial system was so compromised to the extent of not being able to prosecute his "gang" members even if they were killed in broad daylight just like Litmus Barasa did.
Offices were created in order to give his gang members a feel of power.
The likes of Ceskar Suti, who could not afford to buy bread, were now distributing cash in shrines .
He was now owning a flying object that modern people would later call chopper.
Muskomen was now wearing outfits worth millions of shillings. He could now build his dream house with an illegal power connection.

Impunity reigned, there was no law,
Pastors prayed, though their spirits were low.
The whole country was bereaved,
Some events could not be believed,
The citizens got angry,
Parliament was invaded by the hungry,
Food meant for VIPS was eaten by the IDPs,
Citizens ran away with the mace,
Only Wuto could be blamed for the mess.
This is the story of 'Yamune' gangs.
A story hard to believe.
A true story where the upright were led by the corrupt.
Justice was upheld by the opressor.
We needed to get good people to restrain us from bad laws.
