GEN Zs WILL CHANGE THIS COUNTRY SOON
The Kenya Kwanza finally bowed to the pressure from the Gen Zs and removed some of the unlawful proposals in the Finance Bill. The President has been forced to ''tighten his belt'' for the next coming year.
It's funny how revolution fought on social media emerges as the winner . Tik Tokers and X users have shown the old guys how it's done.
The proposed 16% VAT on bread and increase on taxation on mobile phones has been dropped.
The proposed Eco levy will only be chargeable to imported finished products and all locally manufactured items will not be subjected to the levy.
The government further removed the proposed 2.5% motor vehicle tax. Levies on housing and health insurance will become tax deductible.
It's now time for the politicians to understand that the new crop of youths do not care about tribal affiliations. All they care about is money.
They are the unsung heroes in this . From threatening to expose "Sim 2" users to going to the streets to block the bill without a central leader is something to be proud of.
The government will have a hard time dealing with them compared to the days when Raila was the one deciding when to protest.
Dealing with a front with one leader is easier compared to dealing with civilians fighting for their kids and money.
I've seen others praising the President for listening to the people but why should we praise people who create problems only to solve them for personal interest ?
Gen Zs have shown us how to do it.
The enemy is the Finance Bill and not the police, so let them allow us to enjoy this right.
