THE KENYA - SOMALI ISSUE- Time to address the issue has come.
I have tried for a very long time to STAY AWAY from the issue between Kenyans and people of Somali Origin.
Kenya as a community is welcoming and very hospitable to all kinds of people but there are growing concerns about Somalis Why? Here are my reasons.
Why is the sudden influx of illegal Somalis into our country? – We are a sovereign state and as a people we have to ask such questions. To me, it is political dynamics at play. President Ruto loses the mountain but replaces them with Somali votes. And remember that for you to win any elective post, you need both money and people.
So when President Ruto does this, we all know that Somalis are very rich and they will likely support him financially come 2027.
Kenyans are worried about the threat of occupation and being squatters in their own home – To me this is far-fetched. There is nothing to worry about. Somalis are everywhere in the world but they don’t have any stable government anywhere. This is because globally they are being used for their numbers and economic resources nothing else.
Kenyans are worried about the threat of insecurity being posed by illegal immigrants from Somalia – I know many Somalis have condemned extrajudicial killings against their people but what they fail to say is that when these killings happen the country becomes more secure. There is a direct relationship. They hated Uhuru for this but he did what he had to do to keep Kenya safe.
Kenyans are asking about the loyalty of Somalis to the republic – When given a choice between Kenya and Somalia , rarely would you find a Somali choosing Kenya. How many times have we seen Kenyan Mps like Farah Maalim openly championing for Somalia? When Uhuru had a tussle with Somalia over some territorial waters, we all know the side which Kenyan -Somalis picked. This is why Kenyans feel threatened.
To sum up, I believe we can stay in harmony as Kenyans and Kenyan Somalis if we integrate and respect one another in all aspects of life. Social, economic and political. I also believe the new generation of Somalis will be more tolerant than the older ones.
Day by day the strict social interaction between Somalis and other people is being weakened and soon we will all come to an understanding. ONE NATION ONE PEOPLE ONE KENYA.
