THE RISE OF ''GEN Z'' REVOLUTION.
In 2022, my area MP came to campaign in our village, the only thing I remember about that day was what he told the youths.
"Young men and women, don't bank on us to change your systems. We found the country when there was a rule that prohibited any other party aside from KANU, we fought and now all the citizens can enjoy the fruits of our revolution. You can even decide to form your political parties.
Now, we are banking on you guys to fight tribalism, corruption and impunity, as the old men and women are banking on you"
I never knew that the day would come. This week has taught us that Kenya is moving to a place where tribal politics will no longer have a place.
Yong people stormed the social media and rallied each other to come out in large numbers in operation #occupystatehouse.
We all thought it was a bluff only for us to get proven wrong.
They came out in large numbers, and this time round armed with very dangerous modern and digital weapons; cell phones or smartphones.
This made it hard for the police officers to use brute force since everything was being recorded.
Their way of protest is different from whatever we are used to.
They accompany protests with funny placards such as "Batman shuka" and memes that made our day colourful.
They are also daring to the extent of asking for flavoured water canons and even threatening the MPs by sharing their phone numbers on social media.
I saw one young man riding on a police horse while others were imitating the Biblical story of Jesus and Zacchaeus.
They even went ahead and asked "Baba" to stay home and let them do the work.
The protests were carried out throughout the country and even attracted the attention of the international community.
Like I said, they are here to stay.
Letter ''Z'' is the last letter of the alphabet and the Gen Zs are here to put an end to the social and economic injustices suffered by the past generations.
The next thing we need to exercise is the power to recall the non-performing members, to show them we can still pull them down.
Let's wait and see how they will deal with those who voted ''YES'' for the bill.
