THE RAILA PHOBIA IN MT KENYA.
Kikuyu elders during a past event.
As the Finance Bill 2024 is going to be voted for and it has been a big conversation in the country, the one man, one vote , one shilling is also building up. Politics was made in Kenya. Newsrooms always have an easy time in collecting stories . Last week Rigathi Gachagua ensured that reporters do an easy job. His ''feud'' with President Ruto was making news all over the media.
The name of HIS SUNSHINESS RAILA ODINGA, as usual, featured in the current feud between Ruto and Gachagua, and Kenyans were left guessing, "what did wuod Nyalego do to deserve the hate ?"
The Gachagua rally clips from Nyeri are clear in their confirmation that Gachagua's biggest issue is that Ruto is "now friends" with his mentor Baba, which to him is the red line they had drawn for everyone. Uhuru is now a good man in the minds of Gachagua's sheepdom.
He is afraid of the likes of Ndindi Nyoro and Kimani Ichungwa, and he still thinks that he can match with Tinga, an experienced "box to box'' midfielder , who can play for the government and opposition at the same time.
I watched his address on Saturday where he was emotionally ''begging'' for respect. Sasa kuambiwa kuwa hujui kuvaa pia ni kitu ya kulia shually ? He has been calling Agwambo mganga for the past two years and yet he cried after he was reffered to as ''a villager''. Seeking validation from his Mathira people was uncalled for.
The same Jakom was sent by Ruto to Malawi to represent him in the funeral of the Late Deputy President Saulos Chilima, who died in a plane crash.
The obsession that the Kikuyus have for Raila is something that professors need to research.
Anyway, many young Kenyans may not be familiar with the oath that was administered to all Kikuyu adults around 1969, binding them to guard power with their lives, but especially so, to stop it ever going to a Luo.
Government functionaries always denied the existence of this oath, but no less a person than Njenga Karume, who used to be the GEMA chairman, says in his book that when his turn came, he was taken to no less a place than Jomo Kenyatta's own home in Gatundu, where his was done, in a room right next to where Kenyatta was seated at that very moment! In other words, the oath was initiated by the highest authority of the community.
In 1971, a coup plot was discovered in Kenya, led by the then military chief, Maj Gen Joseph Musyimi Ndolo. At that time, the Kamba formed nearly half of the military, meaning that for every two Kenyan soldiers, one was a Kamba.
In Ukambani, till now, nearly every homestead has someone who has served or is serving in the military. The Kamba were so present in the army that to replace Ndolo, Kenyatta could only find Major Gen Jackson Kimeu Mulinge. And even if he had decided that Mulinge may be complicit in the coup plot, his third choice would have been Brigadier Joseph Kathuka Nzioka. It was the proverbial rock and a hard place.
Anyway, the Kenyan public has never been told the full story of the 1971 coup, but declassified CIA files were gracious enough to let us know that Ndolo was angered to discover that Kikuyu soldiers had been taken through the oath in Gatundu, thereby changing their mandate from the defence of national sovereignty to tribal sovereignty.
Rightfully, Ndolo realised he had no national army anymore. He was foolish enough to be caught, and Mulinge was foolish enough to take over without demanding an audit of tribal oathing within the military.
If the coup had succeeded, the history of the country would probably turned out for the better, because let's face it, the Kamba do not possess the greed, the self entitlement and slave mentality with which this country has been ruled for years.
Besides Kambas, the second community involved in the 1971 coup plot was the Luo, through the then Makerere lecturer, Prof Ouma Muga and several Luo military servicemen. A Kamba-Luo ruling regime would have been the epitome of grace and competence.
Prof. Ouma Muga
Anyway, in the last four decades in which Raila has been turned into a national hate figure, the question has been why the Kikuyu hate Raila to that extreme. But no one really knew Raila when the oath was administered for the five or so years between 1974 and 1978. We all know that the likes of Njonjo and the Mt Kenya mafia were against Moi when Kenyatta died. They wanted power for themselves.

However, being the undisputed face of the Luo community, Raila is a direct representation of what that oath was meant to hate.. Interestingly, the sexual expeditions prevalent between Luo men and Kikuyu girls show that someone forgot to include a bedroom clause in that oath. We all saw what Gen. Ogolla's son did.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga also dragged Raila's name in church when he was talking about the revenue sharing proposal made in the BBI. How do you compare ''Vodka to Changa'a ?
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.
It's funny to compare who the president fears to a person who fears Sudi.
Mt Kenya politicians have been gaining popularity depending on how brave you are when abusing Baba. Baba will soon retire , lets see if Babu will also face the same.
We all know what Mungiki came to deal with.
