POLITICS AND GUNS

As today courts remain closed in respect of the late Magistrate Monica Kivuti, who was shot during a court session. We call upon the government to start taking this gun violence thing seriously.

                                               The Late Magistrate Monica Kivuti.

The national government has been reluctant to deal with cases related to gun violence if the violator is an elected member or a prominent politician.
They tend to blindfold us when conclusive evidence is presented.
Last month, the member of Parliament of Gatundu South Gabriel Kagombe was involved in a shooting melee where it is alleged that the bullet that killed the young man was fired from his gun.

The government " investigated" thoroughly and even devised ways such as taking him for a mental check to see if he was alright.
He was released on bail after rejecting all charges against him. Lets hope he rejects the Finance bill the same way he rejected all allegations against him.
The government wants to have all its MPs during the voting day so he has to be out. The case is as good as the closed.

On the day of the election in 2022, Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa shot the aide to his main competitor, left for Nairobi, waited for "mtukutu lais" to be sworn in and then denied being at the station during the time the incident occurred.
No thorough investigation was carried and the case seems closed despite the young losing his life.

Babu Owino was also involved in the same mess, but luckily for him the victim survived and they made amends but still, that didn't help. Leaders should show restraint when confronted with anger.

During last year's opposition protests, Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama was seen threatening the civilians with a gun. The government turned a deaf year despite human rights organizations calling for his arrest.

The feud experienced in Kisii was the one to remember. Sylvanus Osoro and Simba Arati were going too far. The use of guns by the security team paints a bad picture of the politicians. Four people were injured in the process.

There have been many scenarios where guns have been misused by politicians. We all know how Aisha Jumwa dealt with a heckler during the rally.

All I want to say is that throughout this, I blame the judiciary for being partial and weak.
They are supposed to fight for the common mwananchi instead of enjoying power life.
Let's see how they will handle this, but remember all life is equal in the law.
We've seen police officers shooting innocent civilians yet the Judicial system is quiet. Now the war is at their doorstep.
