BABA ''FEARS'' BABU'S POLITICAL RISE.

Hon.  Raila Odinga and Hon . Babu Owino

The ongoing ODM succession politics has taken another turn and if those involved are not careful, the party might experience mass defections.

There are two camps involved, the Oparanya and Joho camp. Those supporting the Oparanya camp are to some extent more conservative. They include the likes of Edwin Sifuna, Opiyo Wandayi and even John Mbadi not forgetting the youth leader Oburu Odinga.
Those in the Joho axis include the firebrand Babu Owino, Junet Mohammed and Ledama Ole Kina.

Mrs Idda Odinga once endorsed John Mbadi to take over from Raila while Oburu once endorsed Opiyo Wandayi. Complete confusion.

Now, here is the problem. Babu Owino has made it clear that he wants to be part of the conversation when the time to succeed Raila comes.
No one surely knows when will this be since ''the sixth'' has not said anything about him exiting the national political scene.

He said that it's either he is at the table or he'll break the table.
To many ODM followers, Babu has all it takes to succeed Raila but the problem is that the infighting in the party is too much for him.
His character of being radical on issues affecting citizens has earned him a massive following.
He never gives in for anything and he always fights for what he believes in.
He is very youthful thus he can be the party leader for almost twenty good years and even others have suggested that he should consider vying for the presidency in 2032.
ODM followers from the Luo Nyanza have made it clear that they own the party, and ODM is the biggest company in Nyanza. They cannot allow leadership to move to other tribes.
Those who oppose him are close allies of Baba, which means that Baba knows what is going on.
Baba is the stumbling block on the political journey of Babu and time will surely tell.
He fears that Babu might achieve what he failed to achieve in forty years.

We also saw  the power of Babu during the demonstrations in Nairobi. After he was arrested, the intensity of the protests was weak. This sent a warning to the other party principals, as the message was clear.
Babu has support in Nairobi, plus the influence he built when he was the SONU president
I heard John Mbadi saying that Babu is still young and that there is no vacuum in the party.
These are the people who always feed on Raila's name.
I fear that by 2025 March, we will have ODM Kenya and ODM Asili just like in the days of the FORD Kenya and FORD Asili.

Anyway, I will always support Babu since Baba has failed us many times and my prayer has always been to pair Babu Owino with Edwin Sifuna. This is a combination of governance and oversight and they will form a formidable ''mashemeji alliance'' with close to fifteen million people.
